Getting Started in Vista (for Faculty)

Description

This 2-day, hands-on workshop focuses on the dual role of Section Designer/Instructor. Since teaching can only occur at the Section Level in Vista and that the double role of Designer/Instructor most closely mimics the responsibilities and authority most faculty have enjoyed in other versions of WebCT or in other courseware, the participants will spend the entire two days either as a student or designer/instructor within a Section of a Course. Vista offers far more than the ability to create an online course, however, that richness does not need to be exploited until the faculty are comfortable with the new system. Just as a designer in Campus Edition did not need to know how the System Administrator functioned in order to create and deliver an online course, similarly within Vista faculty in the beginning seek a limited approach to Vista data and actively decline any information that does not lead directly to the creation or delivery of their online course.

Audience

This workshop is intended for those who will be teaching online using Vista for the first time. It is not necessary to have taught online before in WebCT Campus Edition or any other courseware. However, participants should have basic e-mail, MSOffice and browser skills such as uploading, searching, saving, and Save as Web page.
